For students who want to find their voice and tell their story in a way that will stand out from all the AI-generated essays piling up on college admissions officers’ desks, I can help them write a personal essay and activities list that convey their strengths, accomplishments, and dreams as a cohesive, compelling story. I have helped many students get into their top-choice schools, including CMU, Georgetown, Duke, U Chicago, and more!
Study Skills
For students who are feeling overwhelmed or disengaged or who are working twice as hard and still not seeing the academic results they hoped for, I offer coaching in executive function, time management, organization, breaking large projects into small steps and finishing them, and strategies to manage test anxiety.
SAT Reading / Writing
For students who want to get top scores on the digital SAT, I teach proven strategies to improve accuracy and speed on the digital SAT. I will help students learn to identify each problem type, apply techniques specific to each type, and master the foundational reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills the SAT tests.
Essay Writing
For students who struggle with academic writing or for students who enjoy writing but want to hone their skills to meet higher academic goals, I demystify the writing process, teaching students how to research, read effectively, evaluate evidence, form strong arguments, organize their thoughts, synthesize information, and write powerful, clear essays.
Grammar Skills
For students who have gaps in their foundational writing skills, I teach grammar and style in a scaffolded, engaging way that enables them to express their ideas confidently and precisely. This is also beneficial for students entering high school who still need to master the building blocks of effective writing.
AP English
For students who would like additional help succeeding in their AP classes, I teach targeted, proven methods to help students master AP Language and Composition and AP Literature.
